Flowers Take Time
Paintings are built slowly, layer by layer, allowing colour and detail to emerge with care. I want my paintings to feel calming and refined, while still holding the living energy of the flowers themselves. My hope is that each artwork becomes a gentle presence in the spaces it enters.I’ve always been drawn to flowers — not just for their beauty, but for the tenderness, movement, and emotion they carry. In my paintings, I try to capture that feeling through soft layers, subtle hues, and thoughtful detail.
Maria Azmari is a floral, botanical, and abstract landscape painter based in Ottawa, Ontario. Working in acrylic and oil, she creates highly detailed compositions that explore the delicate beauty of flowers, occasional greenery, and natural landscapes. Her practice is distinguished by precision, subtle layering, and a refined attention to form, color, and light.
Her artistic journey began in Bangladesh, where she studied under a mentor who introduced her to sketching, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting. This early foundation continues to shape her practice today, informing her careful technique and deep connection to the natural world.
Azmari’s work has been exhibited in solo, group, and online exhibitions, and is represented in galleries and public collections.
